Water Taxi Karma

At most breaks you will be dropped off at the take off zone by the boat’s dinghy or ‘water taxi’ for your surf session. The photographer may also use this same dinghy for shooting depending on the break. Each time your bro wants to go surfing and/or return to the main boat there is a chance that while we are in transit you are getting shacked off your head!

As a general rule, if the photographer is using the dinghy and the main boat is close to the break and you feel like you can paddle it, then do so, it’s good karma
. If the boat is far away, then we can give you a taxi ride back, no worries. Just be aware that someone at some point on the trip will get a good wave during a taxi. It just happens.

If the group splits up going to two separate breaks then we all get to decide where we go to shoot (usually by vote). It is preffered that we go with those that have less photos in their portfolio or to the bigger, more consistent, and/or more photogenic surf spot.

This is also as good time to mention that we may have a ‘naked’ camera out shooting one of your fellow shipmates, so before getting in the dinghy check that the photographer is ready. You don’t want to shake the boat while they are shooting a barrel sequence and you sure don’t want to be the guy that throws the wet leash strap on to the camera and destroys the shots!
