Zak Noyle

Zak grew up in Hawaii and has been around photography his entire life.  His Dad, Ric Noyle, is a well respected Hawaiian lensman, so Zak learned about F-stops and shutters somewhere around elementary school.  It wasn’t until later he discovered his true gift – water photography.

Physically, Zak is built to swim. He is tall and lean and has a reach that would make a basketball player envious.  Living on Oahu it was inevitable that his talents would find their way to Pipeline and the surrounding breaks.  He rarely misses a swell there and lives for the thrill of opening his waterhousing and seeing the goods.

His ‘in the tube shots’ are amazing and his ability to position himself in the pit is well established.  One feels the rush when looking at Zak’s work. Magazines where quick to see his talent and Zak was published before most surf photographers go to photo school. He is now a staff photographer for Transworld Surf . We are stoked to have Zak  shooting for us in between his assignments because we know what he can do for our guests.   He has a strong work ethic, is versatile enough to shoot compelling land angles and loves to use new technology (he was one of the first at Pipe to use a waterhousing with both video and still photography at the same time).

The best part of all is that Zak is a great guy. Seems like every time we see him he is smiling or laughing. Maybe it is the Aloha spirit that he has captured along his journey.  Maybe it is knowing that now there are two famous photographers named Noyle in Hawaii.  Maybe it is a look of a guy that has found his true calling at an early age.  Maybe he just loves to shoot surf.
